“But when they believed Philip, as he preached the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized” (Acts 8:12, HCSB).
269 million people in North America are lost.
269 million don’t know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
269 million lack hope, love and eternal life.
269 million. That’s 3 out of every 4 people in North America.
The harvest is huge and the workers are too few.
God has called His disciples to the mission of preaching the gospel. God has called us to be builders of His kingdom, and when God calls people, He always equips them with the means to obey.
In Matthew 28, after Jesus commanded His disciples to go and make more disciples, He promised to always be with them. That promise extends to us today and is made possible by the Holy Spirit inside every believer. We are equipped for the mission of going, telling and teaching through the Holy Spirit's immense power and ability. We are united together through His Spirit for the great goal of preaching forgiveness and salvation in Jesus Christ and making disciples in Jesus' name.
Unity is key if we are to fulfill the command God gave to go and tell. We must work together. We must all have the same goal in mind of advancing Christ’s kingdom. To advance the goal in the face of 269 million lost people, we must go ourselves but also give and work together to send out North American missionaries.
Thousands of missionaries have already obeyed God’s call to "go." They plant churches. They befriend the lonely. They honor Christ's commands. These missionaries sacrifice everything—like Philip in Acts 8—to reach the lost and make the gospel available to groups of people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to hear. Strategically placed, North American missionaries are making headway in pushing back lostness.
But the harvest is huge, and the workers are few. We need more missionaries. And missionaries can’t be sent without more funding. That’s why the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® (AAEO) exists. Every dollar of AAEO goes directly to funding missionaries throughout North America who will preach the good news of the kingdom and make known Jesus' name—just like Philip did. When we give to AAEO, we work together to bring hope and healing to 269 million people in North America.
The task is too great on our own. The harvest is too big for a handful of people to reap. But the Spirit is inside each of us. He unites us, and it must be Him working and giving through us.
Together, by His grace and Spirit, we can give to AAEO and help get the gospel to 269 million in North America.
Together, we have the same Lord and the same mission. Let's work together for His kingdom.
